School Update
Wed 18 Mar 2020Dear Parent / Carer
Further to the announcement by the Prime Minister this evening you will be aware that the directive is to close schools in the UK from Friday afternoon until further notice.
However, exceptions to this directive were also announced; the finer detail of which is yet to be fully understood. I fully anticipate receiving clear guidance from the Department of Education tomorrow in relation to the provision of education that will need to be offered to vulnerable students and those children of key workers.
Therefore, we will be open as usual tomorrow for students to attend school. As previously advised if you feel due to a pre-existing health condition and or you are in self-isolation your child should stay at home. Please be assured their attendance record will not be adversely impacted by this decision.
I take this opportunity to thank you for your support and I will be in contact tomorrow regarding the finer detail in relation to the Governments school closure plans and ongoing education provision for your child.
Please continue to follow the guidance from public health England in relationship to self-isolation.
Kind Regards
Les Milton

Covid19 updates
Tue 17 Mar 202017th March, 2020
Dear Parents/Carers
As you will be aware the Public Health England and Government advice changes daily, in light of last night’s advice if your child or any member of your household develops symptoms of a dry cough or a raised temperature please ensure that you do not send your child to school and that your child and the whole household self-isolate for 14 days.
If your child has previously been sent home as they have presented these symptoms they should remain self-isolated and not return to school for 14 days.
If your child develops a raised temperature or a dry cough at school we will be contacting parents and sending them home as per the government guidance.
If you have concerns or wish to discuss this further please do not hesitate to contact us or check the latest guidance issued at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-information-for-the-public
Kind regards
Mr Les Milton

Coronavirus - Advice from Public Health England
Thu 13 Feb 2020Advice from Public Health England to share with your school community:
What is the coronavirus?
The 2019 Novel Coronavirus has been spreading since it was first reported in December 2019.
Symptoms include fever and respiratory symptoms including coughing and shortness of breath. Generally, coronavirus can cause more severe symptoms in people with weakened immune systems, older people, and those with long term conditions like diabetes, cancer and chronic lung disease.
If you develop these symptoms and have recently travelled to an area where the coronavirus is being widely reported or believe you may have come in contact with the virus then you should stay indoors and call NHS 111 informing them of the details linking you to the virus.
What should I do?
If you are feeling unwell and have not been contacted by Public Health England, then there is no need for concern.
You should continue to treat your symptoms as usual for seasonal flu or a common cold. If you feel unwell and do not know what you should do, then call NHS 111.
As always, if you have symptoms of a cold or flu, then there are measures you can take to bugs spreading:
- Always carry tissues with you and use them to catch your cough or sneeze. Then bin the tissue, and wash your hands, or use a sanitiser gel.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after using public transport. Use a sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Avoid close contact with people who are unwell.
How do I know if I’ve been in contact with a case?
Public Health England is in the process of contacting people who have had close contact with the confirmed cases.
Close contacts will be given health advice about symptoms and emergency contact details to use if they become unwell in the 14 days after contact with the confirmed case. This tried and tested method will ensure any risk to them and the wider public is minimised.
Experts at Public Health England (PHE) continue to work hard tracing patient contacts from the UK cases. Should a school pupil or staff member be identified as a contact of a confirmed case they will be asked to self isolate by PHE. We are advised that in these cases there would not be a need for a school to close or take further action and everyone else can continue to go about their daily routine, e.g. going to work or school as they would normally.
