March, 2020
Dear Parent/Guardian,
Key Stage 4 Options 2020/21
I know that we are facing an uncertain future, considering what is going on in the world. We do not know exactly when we will be reopening as a school, but we must continue to look forward and plan.

You recently received our Options booklet for Year 9 pupils, and we asked you to think about these options and talk about them with your child. Following discussions with pupils, and feedback from parents, we are now in a position to be able to put each of the options into four blocks, as shown below:
As we do not know when the school will be fully open again, I am asking that you choose your options with your child and return by email to me at danny.ralph@laleham-gap.kent.sch.uk in the format:
Child’s name
Block 1
Block 2
Block 3
Block 4
Please choose one option from each block. Please also note that your child cannot choose the same subject in two blocks.
As you can see, Challenger Troop takes place across two option blocks. If your child would like to choose Challenger Troop in Block 1, please leave the box blank for block 2. Pupils choosing this will work towards three different qualifications over the two years.
Please be aware that there are limits to numbers of pupils that we can accommodate in each group. If this affects the choices that your child has made, we will be in touch to discuss further options.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me by email.
Best wishes and I hope you are safe and well,
Danny Ralph

Updated Letter in Relation to Free School Meals
Fri 27 Mar 2020Dear Parents / Carers
We have been made aware that some parents in the County have been approached via text and/or e-mail in relation to Free School Meal arrangements in light of Covid-19 (Coronavirus).
We understand parents have been asked to provide their bank details and personal information about children who are eligible, including names and dates of birth, with a promise that money will be sent to them directly.
This information is not accurate.
Further information will be available from government later in the week which will confirm it is the school who will be managing the voucher system in consultation with a government’s identified provider. Therefore, please do not respond to any messages you receive unless they come directly from the school.
Can we also take this time to remind you to be aware of anyone who contacts you either directly or via social media offering services for your family in these difficult times. Unless you can trust them, you should not be sharing personal information related to you or your family as it may not be used in the manner you would have hoped.
Yours sincerely

Message from Mr Milton
Wed 25 Mar 2020Dear Parents / Carers
We have had to make some really difficult decisions this week. We have had to shut the school gates and will only remain open for the key workers who have no other option but to send their children to school. We are pleased that this list is currently manageable and ensures that we have the minimum number of staff in the building for everyone's safety.
I have been delighted by staff who have volunteered to work shifts for which I am very grateful. I am also really encouraged that key workers are only using us if they really need to as they appreciate the risks that we are all taking by being together.
Many thanks for all of your kind words and offers of support. There have been too many to respond to individually. Your child will have been given plenty of work to do and we are all determined to ensure that they make good progress. Our teachers will continue to stay in touch and support as much as we can remotely.
We are doing the best that we can in the circumstances. Take care and stay safe.
Kind regards
Les Milton

COVID19 Guidance

You should only send your child to school on Monday if you have to, because your work is critical to our COVID-19 response. If you are able to keep your child at home, you should. #StayHomeSaveLives
