Leading Parent Partnership Award - LPPA

What is the Leading Parent Partnership Award (LPPA)?

The Leading Parent Partnership Award (LPPA) is a nationally recognised award achievable by schools who work closely with families of its pupils. Laleham Gap Launched the Award Launched the Award in 2024 to identify what we do well and improve upon the the communication, support and work we do with families within our community.

The award is not just a process, but is an ongoing commitment to this work, but can only be achieved through verification by an external advisor.

What does the school have to do to achieve the award?

The school has had to work towards evidencing the nine evidence-based objectives below to achieve the award.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to work towards achieving the LPPA
  • Make and implement effective plans to achieve and maintain the LPPA
  • Show the school is a welcoming, communicative and friendly place for parents
  • Promote the awareness and participation of all groups of parents/carers in supporting their children’s learning and developing their own learning. In addition, the school holds and actively promotes a programme of opportunities and events for joint parent and child participation
  • Provide a good induction for all new parents/carers
  • Provide parents/carers with relevant and user-friendly guidance and information to help them to support their children’s learning
  • Produce and implement parent-friendly policies to establish effective home–school links and to improve children’s attendance, punctuality, progress and positive participation in school
  • Provide good support for all parents as their children move through or leave the school
  • Summarise our achievements against the LPPA objectives and outlines our future plans

How can families support us?

Research shows that when parents/carer are involved, children do better and achieve more.  Parents, carers and family members are by far the most important influences on their child's lives. By becoming involved in the life of your child's school you can show your child that their education is important to you.

At Laleham Gap, we recognise that working on the LPPA is not just about what the school is doing, but it is about how we are working in partnership with parents. At the launch of the Award and in subsequent messages and flyers, we asked for parents and families to support us by:

  • Coming along to our events wherever possible e.g. coffee mornings, summer fairs, parent evenings and annual review appointments.
  • Read the letters and support information we send out, responding where necessary.
  • Complete feedback forms, honestly and constructively.
  • Attend transition, prospective parent and training events.
  • Sign up to our National College portal using the link or QR code below. This is free for parents and carers and contains a wealth of advice and posters for parents around online safety and safeguarding. https://nationalcollege.com/enrol/laleham-gap-school

What have we done since the launch to support parents more?

Each term, the LPPA working party has been meeting to work through each of the nine objectives and collate evidence for the school portfolio. Our parent advocate has also been involved in some of our meetings, attended our coffee mornings and has been a valuable source of support to us.

In our assessment in December 2025, we had made significant progress, but had further work to do. Some of the key things still to evidence are:

  • Clearer information provided to parents via a newly commissioned website.
  • Capturing the number of parents who were attending our events and their satisfaction with them through registers.
  • Supporting parents with training.
  • Reviewing events that parents could attend and trying to improve on this.

One of the biggest issues we have been contending with since the launch of the LPPA is that feedback from parents has repeatedly told us that there is lots of useful information on our school website, but it is difficult to find. Due to our families coming from across the county, parents and carers told us it is difficult to access school events and would like more online updates and training. We listened to you and commissioned a new school site.

The site was initially due to be completed by the beginning of the Summer Term, but due to design improvements, we will gain access to it in July 2026 to prepare for the new academic year.

What are the benefits to the new site?

  • It will be highly visual and fully accessible to support families who may need accessibility features online.
  • It has improved navigation and key members of staff have spent a large amount of time designing a structure to make content easy to find.
  • The main navigation bar include links to dedicated Parent & Carer areas and key information such as school policies and safeguarding.
  • We will have greater control over the content of the site and the new site will give us unlimited video storage for recorded training.
  • New features allow us to publish key stories and updates like a new site.
  • We will be able to protect parent training pages.
  • We will automatically be able to publish new content at the right times of the year and set old content to expire, meaning the website stays clean and functional.
  • Staff members will be able to author content for their own areas of the site, meaning that administrators have more time to support families and simply need to review new content for accuracy, rather than having to keep liaising with staff members or writing new content from scratch.

Family Support & Information

As part of the LPPA, we have committed to providing you with useful information, including how to access other organisations, training and partner agencies. Below is a list of other school website pages you may find useful as a parent.

We also have a separate Wellbeing and Therapies site which provide information about our Wellbeing Team, our Therapists, the interventions we run at the school and the Partner Agencies that we  work with. This will be integrated onto the new site for September, but for now, you can access it here: Wellbeing & Therapies
