If we are to create and sustain a reading community, we must pay as much attention to how we support the will to read as much as the skill to read.  Research shows that children and young people are more likely to choose to read if they are able to choose what they read, and to choose books that are matched to their reading ability – making sure pupils have access to quality reading material is key to building a reading community.
