Fundraising Thank You!

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Tara and Sammy from Your Hair Hub in Ramsgate, who completed a fundraising trek up Scafell Pike on behalf of Friends of Laleham Gap School. They raised an incredible £1,284, which will go towards supporting our vocational skills work. Jo, who runs the salon and is also a Trustee of the charity, helped to secure resources such as hair clippers directly from WAHL. We are very grateful for all of this support.

 

Leading Parent Partnership Award (LPPA) Visit 

We are delighted to confirm that our LPPA verification visit will take place on Tuesday 30th June 2026. As part of this process, the assessor is very keen to speak directly with a range parents to hear about your experiences and perspectives.

Post 16 work related course

You may have noticed a new banner displayed around the school recently. It has been designed and created by our Post 16 pupils as part of a work-related learning course with Bubblehouse, an events company specialising in the design and creation of visual installations.

 

During the course, pupils have not only produced the banner but have also contributed to a range of creative projects within the school community. These include designing and building sound boarding for the Phoenix cabin and creating an inflatable archway, which will be used to celebrate our Year 11 students on their Leavers Day.

 

Alongside these community-focused projects, students have had the opportunity to develop their own individual pieces, including creating their own inflatable designs and neon self-portraits.

 

All of the pupils involved have shown exceptional creativity, commitment, and teamwork throughout the programme.

 

Parent Questionnaire

As part of our commitment to always improving what we do, our annual Parent Survey will be shared with all parents and carers over the next few days. This is a great opportunity for you to tell us about your child’s experience and share your thoughts on school life more broadly. We really value your feedback as it helps us understand what’s working well and where we can do even better. We’d love as many families as possible to take part. Exams

We are delighted to commend our pupils for their exemplary behaviour during the recent exam period. They have demonstrated maturity, focus, and a positive attitude throughout, creating a calm and purposeful atmosphere across the school. We would also like to thank parents and carers for their continued support in helping pupils prepare so well and approach their exams with such dedication.

 

I would like to inform parents that from September 2026, Cathy Shuter will be reducing her working time to one day per week of remote support for children. For those who require a continuation of face-to-face support, arrangements have been made utilising our other wellbeing case worker Bhavik Chhanabhai and the wider well-being team. Those currently receiving support from Cathy, will be informed of this in the coming days, along with the plans for the continuation of their individual support. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Cathy for the outstanding contribution she has made to children, staff and the school to date, and look forward to this continuing under this new arrangement.

 

Reminder - Please join us for our annual Cheese and Wine evening on Wednesday 17 June at 6pm in the Wave building. This is a relaxed and friendly opportunity for parents and carers to come together, enjoy a glass of wine, and feel part of our school community. These informal gatherings offer a safe and welcoming space to meet other families, share experiences, and build supportive relationships with one another. I hope to see you then.

I have been asked to share with you by Kent County Council the following School Age Childcare Survey:

 

The need for childcare does not stop when children reach school-age, we know that families continue to need childcare before and after school, and during the school holidays. As a result, the Department for Education is taking a strategic approach to the future of School Aged Childcare (SAC) which builds on the successes of programmes such as the National Wraparound Childcare programme, the Holidays Activities and Food programme (HAF) and the national rollout of the Free Breakfast Club programme, to ensure families are supported, year-round, by an outstanding SAC system.

 

The Education People’s Early Years and Childcare Service is conducting a survey on behalf of Kent County Council, of parents and carers to determine their term time and holiday childcare requirement for children aged 0-14 and up to 18 for disabled children.

 

The information will help us assess if there are any gaps in provision and how best to meet the needs of all families. Please find below the link and QR Code. We would be very grateful if you could please complete by 17 July 2026.
