End of Year Letter from Mr Milton

The end of a calendar year is a natural time to pause and reflect. You can see by reading this newspaper that the number of activities and events remained consistently high here at Laleham Gap School.

I would like to pass on my sincere thanks to all those staff involved in organising and running these activities and thank all of you as parents and carers for your continuing support. Most of all I want to say an enormous well done to all the students this year for engaging with these activities with such a buoyant and positive approach.

I am particularly delighted by the amount of support given to fundraising activities this year which includes our Summer and Christmas Fairs, our work for Unicef and our support for the Porchlight Charity and Children In Need.

The school will be launching a new website in January, which will enable parents to install a free APP on their mobile device to keep in touch with all the latest news and events, which are due to take place. Further information regarding this will be communicated in January.

Bad weather reminder

Every winter brings the possibility of snow and ice. Extreme bad weather can cause widespread and prolonged disruption. Schools are often affected and it can be difficult to maintain an education service. If snow/ice results in hazardous conditions and I make the decision to close the school, we will notify parents/carers via the Kent Closures website together with a text message and a message on the school website. To determine whether Laleham Gap School is open or closed, please visit www.kentclosures.co.uk and search for the school in the search box. As parents / carers it is your responsibility to assess the weather conditions to ensure that it is safe to travel. This includes the return journey. If you are in any doubt, then please do not put yourself or child at risk by travelling.

Finally, I would like to wish all of our students and their families a very Merry Christmas and best wishes for the New Year. I very much look forward to welcoming students back to school on Thursday 3rd January, 2019.

Kind regards

Mr Les Milton
