The updated 2025 DfE guidance states that parents can discuss the right to withdraw their child from some or all of Sex Education (but not Relationship or Health Education) with the Leadership Team up to three months before their child’s 16th birthday when the child can choose.  The content of statutory Relationship, Sex and Health Education (RHSE) is part of Parents Evening discussions and the subject lead welcomes further conversations to personalise the curriculum to individual needs.

Elements of RE are provided within inclusive and broad minded L4L lessons and ‘Explore RE’ experiences. RE plays a small part in supporting pupils to develop a respect for Protected Characteristics as part of our shared British Values.  Parents do have the right to withdraw pupils from RE however the school does not support selective withdrawal from RE.

Should parents wish to discuss withdrawing their child from general Religious or specific Sex Education lessons, they are advised to contact Mr Payne, Head of Safeguarding and Wellbeing; or Mrs Katie Reeves our Deputy Headteacher.
