Please join me in welcoming our new School Governors
Dear parents and carers
I trust you and your family are well.
Following my letter on 8/9/26, we had 1 submitted nomination to become a Parent Governor. This means an election is not required.
Please join me in welcoming our new Parent Governor, Stacey Sofianos. We are grateful that they have chosen to give their time and voice to Laleham Gap. As a parent of two pupils, they bring lived experience, practical insight and a strong commitment to our school community. Their role on the governing body will be to help shape the strategic direction of the school, to hold leaders (including me) to account and to make sure our decisions always keep the best interests of our pupils at their heart.
Our previous Parent Governor, Lesley Collins, was asked by the Governing Body to remain on the Board. She has agreed to become a co-opted governor. Her continuing support to the school is highly valued. I am also delighted to welcome to the Governing Body Mr Martin Hynes from Business Computer Solutions. As a Managing Director of a local IT company his knowledge and experience in the business world will be an asset to our school.
A huge well done to so many of our pupils for making such a positive start to the year. I have seen thoughtful, calm learning in classrooms, pupils showing kindness to one another, strong engagement with specialist therapies and staff creating routines that help every pupil to feel safe and ready to learn. For pupils with autism and speech, language and communication needs (SLCN), consistent routines, clear communication and patient, personalised support make all the difference, many thanks for your continuing support with this.

We will continue to focus this term on:
- strengthening communication and independence skills for all pupils;
- ensuring classroom routines support calm, focused learning; and
- keeping close contact with families so we can respond quickly to any changes in need.
