My Week Becomes My Picnic
My Money Week becomes My Picnic Day
At Laleham Gap School we always try and make the learning as ‘real’ as possible. So when it comes to money, whenever we can we try and get the pupils to use real money.
So for ‘My Money Week’ ( a National Campaign to get pupils using money) Mr Ursell set 10CF a challenge. He brought in £20 and challenged them to come up with a costed and appropriate idea to convince a panel of adults (10CF staff) to spend it on. If they couldn’t convince the panel (Dragon’s Den style) then the £20 went back.
In the end 10CF came up with a viable plan – an end of year celebration picnic. With pupils going off to Sainsbury’s to get enough food and drink for 13 from £20 it was still an interesting challenge.
The picnic ended the year on a high as a great success. With some lovely food, rounders and some park games it was a real testament to spending money wisely. 10CF have also been been raising money as well as spending it. They have been raising money for in the last few days of term for a local charitable cause (more info to follow).
